What is BMI?
BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated as weight divided by height squared. For US units: BMI = (weight in lbs × 703) ÷ (height in inches)². It's a screening tool used by the CDC to assess weight categories.
CDC Categories
- Underweight: BMI < 18.5
- Normal: BMI 18.5 – 24.9
- Overweight: BMI 25 – 29.9
- Obese: BMI ≥ 30
